WA 4 draft 2

Dear President Barrack Obama,

Congratulations on being elected as president of the United States of America! Your win was hard fought and so many Americans appreciated the hard work and dedication you put in to your campaign. I was extremely excited about your win. I am also hopeful for the changes you will bring. Although there are many pressing issues in the world today I think that there are a few that deserve a more attention than the others. These include the economy, peace in the world, the public school system, and the environment. As I will explain I think that you will see how important they are too.

As you well know the economy is not in it’s the best shape, and at the moment it is clearly the most urgent problem. Once we get the economy up and running again we can then help other countries. We must create jobs for people and help them become independent. Until then we are unable to do any lasting good in the world.

Peace is always a hope that people have. But currently in places like the Congo, Burma, and Darfur there are extreme cases of genocide and dictatorship. It is unacceptable that we can stand by and allow these mass rapes and murders to happen. There are so many people in these countries that could benefit from even the smallest bit of our help. America is a country that has the power to step in and help these people, and we need to.

America must focus on improving the public schools system. When kids from public schools and private schools arrive at college there should be no discrepancy between the two. Studies should be done to determine what the major flaws in the schools systems and then figure out what we can do to fix them. School should be something that kids enjoy not dread. Children are surely the future and if we do not give them all the help we can America has no future either.

Lastly the environment is being destroyed around us and most people do not even know about the problem. We only get one earth and once it is destroyed there is no going back. It is our responsibility to take good care of the earth and do all we can to preserve it. America causes more pollution and waste then most countries. We must get the word out about this problem and all of its possible repercussions. We also must let people know all the things that can be done to prevent it.

I am confident that you can take these suggestions and apply them when dealing with these issues. I know that you are an extremely busy man, but I fully believe that these problems above the others deserve a higher level of attention. I wish you the best of luck and that this country, which has a history of being divided, will come together and unite to support you in the coming years.

Sincerely, Emily Poe
